‘Just Say No’ To Toxic Toys This Holiday Season
Dec 3rd, 2008 by

Non-Toxic Toy Dollhouse
This holiday season, parents and other gift givers should take great care in the selection of safe toys for babies and kids. Children’s bodies are growing and developing, making them more vulnerable to the effects of toxic chemicals. Children are exposed to toxic chemicals from many sources, including toys. Toys can contain a variety of chemicals of concern. The materials used in toys like plastics, paints, and fabrics are made up of chemicals, and may also contain added chemicals to impart specific properties such as rigidity, durability, flexibility or flame resistance. When children put toxic toys into their mouths, some of the chemicals may enter their bodies. There are a number of chemicals of concern that have been found in children’s products: lead, cadmium, chlorine, arsenic, bromine and mercury. Even small amounts of a chemical can impact a child’s ability to reach his or her full potential.

Modern Kid Stuff knows how hard it is to read labels on toy packaging, research toy manufacturers and keep up-to-date on the latest toy recalls. We are proud to offer a large selection of safe, non-toxic toys for babies and kids.

Parents can keep kids safe from toxic toys at home by checking each toy against government recall lists, toy recalls, and lead recalls. If parents suspect that a toy is unsafe, or to report an unsafe product, contact the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
